EGP start the construction of a wind farm in Chile

(Rinnovabili.it) – Enel Green Power ("EGP") has started the construction of the wind farm in Valle de Los Vientos II in the region of Antofagasta in Chile.

The new plant will consist of 45 wind turbines of 2 MW each, for a total installed capacity of about 90 MW. Once operational, the plant of Valle de Los Vientos will produce a regime more than 200 GWh per year, avoiding the emission of more than 165,000 tons of CO2.

The planned investment for the construction of the new wind farm is about 140 million USD.

"Chile offers wide availability of renewable resources, a mix that coincides perfectly with the technological capabilities of EGP. For this we plan to add to our presence hydro and geothermal energy, also 250 MW of wind capacity by 2016, and we are developing an important pipeline of solar projects.
